Reflective Exercise
I loved this exercise! Why can't all homework be like that?! When doing this I felt so relax and at peace. I even used the breathing to help me fall asleep. I usually toss and turn, but the other night when I laid down I took slow deep breaths in thinking "relax" and exhaled thinking "wake up energized". Not only did I fall asleep rather quickly I slept more sound than I have in a very long time and I woke up ready to run my 14 mile training run!! I will continue to do this exercise everynight when I need to fall asleep quickly!!

I think that it is funny on how this exercise has been putting everyone to sleep OR almost to sleep. It's as if when we empty our thoughts we let go of our will to stay awake:)
ReplyDeleteOn another note I am happy to hear there is another runner in the midst. I'm doing a half marathon trail run at the end of the month. I did a 14miler on Friday...you should have been here!
Aly, that is awesome!! I am new to running I did my first half a couple weeks ago and I am doing my first full in June!! 14 miles wiped me out!! Good luck with yoru training! Any tips for the newbie??
ReplyDeleteJust know the more you train, the better your body adjusts, and the better you get. Don't push too hard too soon. And sooner or later you'll be amazing!
ReplyDeleteNever ever ever ever give up:)
Samantha; great picture and I loved this exercise also. I couldn't believe how I could actually feel my arms not wanting to lift over my head once I allowed my mind to take my breaths were a I wanted it to go. I was so amazed at this exercise I tryed it with my yoga class I teach at church. They loved it
ReplyDeleteHi Samantha.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the rest of the group. Think this is great for getting to sleep!! Like Aly, glad to see another runner in the group. Unlike you two though, I'm having to keep mine down to 5 & 10K's. Because of the power lifting I do, my trainer told me to make a choice. Run or power lift. I love power lifting. He gave me the go ahead for the 5 & 10's but the half marathon he veto'ed. That's ok. Good luck with your training.
That is AWESOME Samantha!
ReplyDeleteThis week has been so hectic that I really have not had trouble falling to sleep! That was my great escape! Now that things are resembling a more structured chaos, I will have to try the breathing when I can't get to sleep. And it WILL come soon enough!
I am also SO pleased to be in the company of so many active people! I used to be one of those, and I plan on getting back to good in that respect. I will need all of the advice I can needle out of you too! I have come to know now and accept that it is much different to exercise when you are out of shape than it is when you are fit.
See you in class!
